The fall programs begin on Monday September 8 and go until Saturday December 20.  We have added some new programs so be sure to try them out!  Click below for the full schedule or check out our individual pages for activities for each age group.

It’s Party Time!

Summer reading is almost over and it’s time to celebrate all the reading we’ve accomplished!  The party for all Summer Reading Participants and their families is on Tuesday August 19 from 1:30-3:00 PM.  We will have games, crafts, and food for all.  Please bring a snack to share. 

To thank the VolunTeens for their assistance at the library this summer there will be a VolunTeen only Celebration Party on Thursday August 21 from 1:30-3:00 PM.   We will have ice cream sundaes, snacks, the Wii and other games to play.

Since our Summer Reading Program is wrapping up please remember that the LAST DAY FOR PRIZES is FRIDAY AUGUST, 22.  Thank you all for a great summer and I hope to see you at our End of Summer Celebrations.

Breaking Dawn Release Party

Sign-up NOW for the Twilight Book 4 Lock In at the Library.  The much anticipated Stephenie Meyer book Breaking Dawn is being released on August 2 and we’re having an all night release party!  We will have 20 copies of the book available to purchase from Borders in Saratoga for $20.  We will also be playing a vampire game, making Team Jacob & Team Edward tee-shirts, listening to the audio of the new book beginning at midnight.  We are also making Cullen Body Glitter and having a Twilight Trivia contest.  We will be eating pizza from Pizza Works, having Wedding Cake and a breakfast at dawn. The party is for students entering grades 7 - 12.  It starts at 8:00 PM on Friday August 1 and ends at 8:00 AM on Saturday August 2. 

International Food Festival CANCELLED

Due to a lack of interest, The International Food Festival on Thursday July 17 has been cancelled.

Teen Events This Week

This week we have some very cool Teen Programs.  It is the first week of the Nintendo Wii Tournament!  You can drop in anytime between 2:30-4:30 Thursday or Friday and play.  On Thursday at 1:30 you can make your own Flag and celebrate the beginning of the summer.  Also on Friday at 6:00 PM we have a fencing and foil demonstration being put on by the Capital District Fencing School.  Check them out at http://www.fencingforall.com/All of these events are FREE and a great way to get out of the heat!

Summer Reading Is Almost Here!

I know many of you have questions about the Summer Reading program so I hope this helps!  Summer Reading Registration starts June 26 at 1:00 PM.  That’s when you can start counting the books you are reading!  Summer Reading actually begins on Monday, July 7.  There are programs available for ages birth through Grade 12 and everyone is welcome to participate regardless of where they live or go to school.  All the programs are free, however some do require registration, and to participate in any of the programs you MUST be signed up for the Summer Reading Program!   

If you are entering Grades 6-12 you may also be a VolunTeen and earn community service hours.  Sign up to be a VolunTeen anytime between June 16 and July 1.  You must sign up for Summer Reading to be a VolunTeen!

STORIES IN THE PARK

Come join the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Girl Scouts and the Town of Ballston Community Library for STORIES IN THE PARK!  This fun Family event will be presented at the Pavilion at Indian Meadows Park on Droms Road in Glenville.  Saturday May 31st beginning at 9AM.  Come hear a story, see  play and make a craft.  Bring a snack, a blanket or folding chair.

Gifts for Great Guys!

Drop in and make a gift for a great guy in your life.  Celebrate Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers & Friends!  Saturday June 7 from 1:00-3:00 PM in the community room.

Game & Go!

Thursday May 22 2:30-4:30.  Come and hang out with your friends.  Play on the library’s new Wii, play board games and eat some snacks!  TEENS ONLY

Finding Tales About Who You Are – Hearing Stories And Telling Your Own

Friday May 16 at 1:00 PM Storyteller Marni Gillard will share memories: diving off the high board and riding her first BIG bike. She’ll share folktales too and invite listeners to try out a story on a partner. For second grade and up.
