Join us for Holiday & Winter Crafts for the whole family on Saturday Mornings from 10:00-12:00 in the Community Room.  Snacks will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

 Saturday, December 6 includes a sing along with Miss Mona at 10:30 curtsey of the Friends of the Library.

Book Club!

For students in 6th & 7th grade & an important adult (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc.)  Our first meeting is Thursday, December 4 from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Town of Ballston Library’s Community Room.  Sign up and pick up a copy of the book at the Speck Media Center at O’Rourke Middle School or the Town of Ballston Community Library.  Our first book is Hoot by Carl Hiaasen it’s an ecological mystery that will keep you hooting for more. . .

Teen Advisory Board

Teens!  Are you looking for a way to get involved in your library?  Do you need community service hours?  Join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB).  Help us plan programs, decorate the teen space and choose what books & DVD’s we offer here.  Our next meeting is Monday, November 10 at 2:30 in the teen area.  Everyone in 6 -12 Grade is welcome to join!

Science Saturday is CANCELLED

This Science Saturday, Saturday November 8, has been cancelled.  I am very sorry for inconvenience this may cause.  In its place we will be offering a Game Day at the library with many board games for the whole family to enjoy in the Children’s Room.

A Busy Week!

This week is a very busy one at the library and we have lots of events going on for just about everyone in the family! 

Thursday, October 9 at 10:30 AM we have our story time for 3-6 year-olds and this week we are talking all about SHAPES!  We’ll have songs, books, fingerplays and a craft!

Friday, October 10 we have a Toddler Time program for the under three crowd at 10:30 AM.  After we sing and read together we’ll have play time!

Saturday, October 11 is all about science.  At 1:00 PM we’ll have science experiments for kids in grades 1-5.  This week we’re going to learn all about Sound!

THE LIBRARY IS CLOSED MONDAY, OCTOBER 13 FOR THE COLUMBUS DAY HOLIDAY!

Tuesday, October 14 at at 10:30 AM we have our Music with Miss Mona program so bring your kids and sing and dance along.  Then at 3:00 PM we are hosting a book discussion of the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer as part of Teen Read Week 2008!

Wednesday, October 15 at 10:30 AM we’ll have another Toddler Time for the under threes.  Then in the afternoon at 1:00 PM we will have a story time for 3-6 year-olds all about animal sounds!

Thursday, October 16 at 10:30 AM we’ll have another Animal Sounds Story Time for 3-6 year-olds.  At 4:00 PM Mrs. DeAngelo will have a Story Crafting Program with stories and a craft for kids in Grades K - 3.  Also, at 4:00 PM our 4th and 5th Grade Book Club will be meeting and anyone is welcome to join at any time!  Then at 7:00 PM in Honor of Teen Read Week, the library is hosting a Books With Bite Food Festival!  Sign up in the children’s room to bring a food to share.

Friday, October 17 at 10:30 AM we’ll be offering another Toddler Time!

Wii at the Library Monday October 6!

Come to the Library’s Community Room on Monday October 6 from 3:00-4:30 and try out the Dancing with the Stars Game on our Wii!

Monday Night Story Time

Every Monday Night we offer a Preschool Story Time at 6:30 PM.  Come for books, finger plays and a craft for 3 -6 year olds and their caregivers, followed by play time!  This is a great way for kids and caregivers to spend time together learning and playing!  We also offer preschool story times on Wednesday’s at 1:00 PM and Thursday’s at 10:30 AM.

MARIOKART Tournament

Come and play MARIOKART on the Library’s Wii!  Wednesday September 24 from 3:00-4:30 in the community room for grades 6 - 12 only!

Come to the Library Thursday Afternoon

This Thursday, September 18 from 4:00-5:00 PM we will have our first ever meeting for the 4th & 5th grade book club!  Everyone is welcome to join and at our first meeting we will hand out the first book, have some snacks and talk about what we want to do in the club!  At the same time storycrafting with Mrs. D will be going on in the community room for anyone in grades K-3!  So please come to the library and try out our new clubs!  If you can’t make it this week but still want to be in the book club don’t worry just e-mail Rebecca Darling at rdarling@sals.edu and she will set aside a book for you to pick up later.  See you Thursday!

And don’t forget that the booksale is this week at Ballston Town Hall!
